Stunning Reward Wrapping Ideas

As a teacher I like to organize various learning activities for my students. Likewise, I organized an art competition for which my students were very much excited. So, they very well demonstrated their imaginative ideas through various papers and created outstanding art forms. I had announced prizes for the most creative art forms as a token of encouragement for my dear students. As children love prizes, prize distribution ceremony is always the most excited event for them. And as it was the prize distribution ceremony of an art competition, I decided to make it creative, too. 

Doing this, I wanted to serve two of my intentions – 

1. To bring extra excitement within students for their rewards

2. To give them more creative ideas on paper usage

To put a smile on every participant’s face, I brought them a pile of gifts; one for each. So, I creatively wrapped each reward using gift wrapping accessories and types of papers like color paper, glossy paper, bright paper, parchment paper, vellum paper. But, my personal favorite is vellum paper, which I placed the reward in a small box and wrapped them in different patterns. Like, I covered the small box with a  color paper first and then for more embellishment wrapped it with a belt of layered ribbons and capped it off with a single fabric blossom. 

Also, since kids love colored button I also made a button-stamped wrap. So, I affixed button to a cork with double-sided tape. Then placed plain paper on a folded piece of fabric (this cushions the paper so the mark will be even). Lastly, topped it with a pretty button tied on with baker's twine.

This way, the wide assortment of wrapping papers such as vellum paper, parchment paper helped me have a pleasant but enticing reward wrapping for all my creative students. And exactly the way I wanted they were very much excited to receive these stunning gift wrapped rewards. The immense of joy and amazement that I could see on all those eager faces is really a can't-explain-ever for me!

Steps To Make Scrapbook Using Card Stock Paper

Scrapbooking is one of the best hobbies to learn or to get engaged in. It is a fun hobby that lets you preserve your favorite memories and keepsakes. So, if you have also been bitten by the scrapbooking bug then you are sure to put a large dent in your wallet. Because, scrapbooking materials from paper to embellishments can be pricey if you want to be so creative for it. However, relief can be in site if you have a nice binder and some blank card stock papers.

Find some cost-effective steps to make scrapbook -

1. Gather all materials like card stock, binder and binder sleeves, all of which should be of the same size. Like, if you prefer 8x10 binder, then use 8x10 binder sleeve and similarly 8x10 piece of cardstock. Besides, number of sleeves and pieces of cardstock paper you need will vary on how large you wish to make your scrapbook. Bear in mind that binders come in many different sizes from 1/4 inch to 5 inches deep. So, choose the depth accordingly.

2. Now, pick one piece of cardstock paper and place it on your work area. Make your page using the colored and patterned scrapbook paper, mementos, photographs and embellishments that enhance the look and fits in with your style. Keep in mind that to slide the embellishments easily into the sleeve keep them relatively flat. Glue everything into place.

3. Insert scrapbook page into binder sleeve. The sleeve comes complete with an area that is punched appropriately for your binder. Alternatively, place the sleeve into the binder. Then, repeat the process until all your pages are complete and inserted into the binder.

4. Lastly, create a cover. You can do this by including a clear plastic flap on the front cover where you can insert a cover page. Create a cover page using another piece of card stock paper. Keep it simple with flat embellishments. Then, eventually insert the cover page behind the flap carefully.

Colorful Papers Embark My Creativity

Have you ever tried imagining the world without paper? No?? Just try it now closing your eyes for a moment.

No, I am sure. Right???
It’s because, the invention of paper is a great achievement in itself as it surely marks a milestone in every other progress and improvement of each individual. Likewise, I too can’t imagine a single day without paper, because I love crafts and my projects would be incomplete without it. Basically, papers are an integral part of my design process and creativity. I have tried many fun projects using attractive papers, which I would like to share with you all.

A few of such projects are -

- Making of a stunning greeting card using recycled paper: For this I used old greeting cards to make new ones. Then, cut the fronts of greeting cards off of the original card and paste them onto the front of a piece of folded recycled paper. For more embellishments decorated the card using stamps, glitter, ribbons and other embellishments.

- An album out of onion skin paper: In this album, I added images that are striking, three-dimensional taken on ultra-bright background of metallic paper. I always prefer this paper as this for taking photographs, because its glossy finish and metallic appearance creates images that have extra visual interest and depth, vibrant color and flattering flesh tones. Metallic paper particularly adds a completely unique dimension for photographic output.

- A journal again using onion skin paper: For this I trimmed a bundle of onion skin paper in a particular size. I had my old leather bound journal, which was of no use. So, for binding all the trimmed onion papers together, I used the leather cover of the old one. Basically, leather bound journals are used for writing some to-do tasks. But, I am using this leather bound journal for my collection of photos, stamps and other memorable things.

Hard-to-forget Handmade Birthday Gift Made Me Nostalgic

It was my birthday last week. No doubt, a birthday gives a number of gifts from your near and dear ones. But this birthday, I had received a gift from someone not so close. Or I must say, someone who used to be very close to me many years back, but not in contact these days. She is my school-friend, who was very close to me those days, but we lost connection when she got shifted to Canada due to her mom’s job.  

That afternoon was very nostalgic for me when I received a beautiful gift by courier from her. It was a handmade envelope created by wrapping vellum paper. But its cutest feature was – it had a pencil-sketched school-time image of both of us, on my favorite bright orange color paper.  That envelope was enough to give me nostalgia remembering naughty, frisky, impish but, innocent school days. Those days when we were using vellum paper, bright color papers, craft papers, glossy papers and even parchment paper in bakery classes, every now and then.

Inside the envelope it was a ribbon-tied small photo album, of both of ours school-time moments, exactly how we used to create in our school craft assignments pesting our family photographs. The images in the album were those which she had clicked when I gave her a goodbye party at my home and a handmade dollhouse of bright color glossy paper. Small vellum paper-made cards, glued on each image, explaining how we lived the moment then was just one thing that was new in the album. 

Not only this, that envelope enclosed a letter with our favorite childhood poem written artistically again on a vellum paper. 

I am not finding words, which helped me to explain that precious and hard-to-forget gift so properly, enough to express my emotions I had caught in after having it!

Creative Paper Project Ideas Using Card Stock Paper

I love doing paper crafts of all kinds!

Because, they are easy, quick and there is an impressive selection of decorative papers to choose from. There are so many things you try doing with these decorative papers than just scrapbooking. This is what made me share my paper project ideas with you.

  ● Using patterned or decorative card stock paper, you can make wonderful gift boxes. You can do this by printing a template onto a sheet of pretty card stock paper, cut it out and assemble. Then use a scoring board to score and fold card stock into small gift boxes. You will also be in need of ruler to make straight edge gift boxes. In this way, you are ready with beautiful gift boxes that can be used to gift friends and family.

  ● You can also make notebooks or mini notebooks. Brighten up notebooks with plain card covers by gluing sheets of cardstock paper on top of them. You can embellish your notebooks with cardstock shapes, paint or draw your own design or use decorative stickers. These are fun and easy to make craft! You can also make mini notebooks by simply folding rectangular strips of cardstock in half, then arrange them in pile and then stitch them together down the central fold. Lastly, punch holes in the card stock and then you can use a colored ribbon to tie the pages together. 

  ● For children, who study ancient Egypt may be required to create sarcophagus out of cardstock paper for their projects. Working on this project will give students a better understanding about the way the ancient Egyptians were thinking. Completing this project is fairly easy and will help each student to reflect their own uniqueness.

Teeny-tiny Projects Using Vellum Paper

School going kids must be very aware of vellum paper, which is a translucent paper popular for its use in arts and crafts projects. Such as for making greeting cards or scrapbooking, as well as for tracing designs. So, kids are you ready to start all your fun projects using vellum paper?
